BALCON DEPITRES. Rural retreat.

EL BALCÓN DE PITRES is a tourist resort with a camping site, wooden chalets and holiday apartments. It is in the heart of La Alpujarra, surrounded by nature, at 500m (547 yards) from a village of around 500 people, Pitres, with many facilities: a health centre, a chemist, a bank, hotels, a supermarket and church.

The resort is at 1300m (0.9 miles) over sea level, on the sunniest side of the Sierra Nevada National Park. It is built on different levels, these south facing terraces provide many hours of sun a year.

EL BALCÓN DE PITRES was founded in 1987 as a camping site. In the following years wooden chalets and bungalows for holiday rental were added to the complex.

There are several sanitary blocks, with free hot water showers. There are also laundry facilities and the site can be accessed by caravans and all types of vehicles.

The facilities include a restaurant with bar service, a swimming pool, reception, a grocery store, sanitary blocks and an organic vegetable garden.

GETTING HERE
The address of El Balcón de Pitres is Carretera de Orgiva-Ugijar Km. 51. It is just outside Pitres, the main village of the municipality of La Taha.

From Granada, exit the motorway at the junction signposted for LANJARÓN. Drive pass Lanjarón avoiding the town centre. Some 15km (9.3 miles) before Orgiva take the road towards PAMPANEIRA, just pass the BP petrol station. After driving pass Pampaneira, keep going. You will drive pass a road signposted to Bubión on your left and a petrol station on your right. Keep going until you see the sign at the entrance of El Balcón de Pitres, just before entering the village of Pitres proper.
